How to Attach Composite Fencing To Concrete Fence Posts Using NeoTimber® Aluminium Inserts
NeoTimber’s concrete post inserts allow you to smartly fix our composite fencing to concrete fence posts. These aluminium channels are designed to offer a retrofitting option with concrete fence posts. These aluminium inserts are provided in 1800mm lengths but can be cut down to size using suitable cutting equipment, making them ideal when you need to fix composite fencing to concrete posts securely and neatly.
Inserts must be fixed to the concrete posts in 4 places along its length. We recommend using 4mm x 40mm masonry screws to secure the post insert to the concrete post and advise both the post insert and concrete post are pre-drilled prior to fixing. NeoTimber’s products are designed to accommodate standard concrete post dimensions, but we do advise that you double check the dimensions of NeoTimber’s concrete post inserts, fence boards, decorative screens and capping rails prior to installation to ensure all are compatible.
How To Install Composite Fencing Onto Existing Concrete Posts
At NeoTimber®, we have opted to design our fencing in such a way that it can be fitted to pre-existing concrete posts. This gives you greater options for customisation, making it easier to fit our composite fencing panels into any space. Should you choose to use existing concrete posts, you will be pleased to know that the installation process for fixing our panels between the posts is much the same as the standard installation, aside from the concrete fence post inserts that must be first secured into place against your concrete posts. Our fencing boards can be cut down to size like real timber, helping them to fit perfectly within the confines of your existing concrete posts.
Although we have created our fencing system to be easy to install, we understand that some people may need more of a visual prompt to help guide the build. In recognition of this, we have created the below video to outline these additional steps, providing you with a clearer understanding of the process. For more information surrounding installing NeoTimber® composite fencing onto concrete posts, we recommend reading our full installation guide, which can be found here.
Position The Insert Into The Opening Of Your Concrete Post
Position the aluminium insert into the concrete post, cut down to suit the length of the concrete post should it be required. Pre-drill the insert and the concrete posts before plugging these with raw-plugs. Fix at 4 points along the length of the post insert. Be sure to not over drill when pre-drilling the concrete to avoid damaging the post.

Secure Using The Bottom Capping Rail & L-Bracket
Before installing your NeoTimber® composite fencing boards, start by fitting the bottom capping rail. This rail provides a stable, level foundation that ensures your panels remain perfectly aligned and securely in place over time. Once the bottom rail is in position, attach the L-brackets to your posts, giving additional support and stability for long-lasting durability.
This method helps prevent shifting or movement of the panels, even in high-wind conditions, and makes the installation process straightforward and reliable. Properly securing the panels using the bottom capping rail and L-brackets also enhances the overall appearance, creating clean lines and a professional finish.
