How do you install NeoTimber® composite cladding?

Like all wood-plastic composite materials, our composite cladding products naturally expand and contract with changes in temperature. The extent of this movement is influenced by environmental conditions, particularly heat and cold. This behaviour should be considered during installation, as it affects the required end-to-end spacing between boards. Allowing the correct gaps ensures proper movement and long-term performance. Can NeoTimber® composite cladding be painted?
We strongly recommend not painting or staining NeoTimber® composite cladding. These products are designed as a low-maintenance alternative to timber, and traditional paints or stains will not adhere effectively to the composite surface.
What’s the best way to clean NeoTimber® composite cladding?
NeoTimber® composite cladding is designed to be low maintenance and easy to care for. A simple clean twice a year using warm soapy water and a soft-bristled brush will help keep the boards looking their best. For more thorough cleaning, a pressure washer can be used at up to 3100 psi to remove built-up dirt and pollution. Always use a fan nozzle and keep the spray at least 300mm from the surface to prevent damage. For tougher grime, a specialist composite cleaner such as Owatrol Compo-Clean can also be used. Is the Classic cladding range fire rated?
Yes, the NeoTimber® Classic cladding range is Class C fire-rated in accordance with BS EN 13501-1. This classification indicates a limited contribution to fire and a reduced tendency to spread flame, making it suitable for certain low-rise applications when installed in line with building regulations. As with all composite materials, it is combustible to a degree; however, the Class C rating provides an enhanced level of fire performance and added reassurance for appropriate residential and commercial projects in the UK.
