Home Balcony Upgrade Using Classic Hollow Teak Balcony Decking
Project Background
The age-old question of composite decking vs timber decking was at the forefront of this client's decision to go with NeoTimber®. The client had a timber decking area on the roof of their garage, installed years ago and subjected to the toils of the UK weather. What started out as an idyllic relaxing outlook onto the Vale of Belvoir rapidly turned into an old, tired, faded, cracked, warped, and stained deck.
The brief for this project, therefore, was pretty clear: find a decking alternative that would stand up to all weather conditions and offer long-term reassurance, in other terms, do the job once and once only. The design of the roof was such that it was vital to incorporate a step-down to sit closer to the sill of the door.
From a design standpoint, the customer wanted a more traditional wood-look colour, in keeping with the traditional look and feel of the property.

Our Proposal
After much thought and discussion with the client, we put forward our Classic Hollow Composite Decking. Offering a long-lasting product, in a natural teak tone. All at a price they were happy with. Accompanying the boards, the customer opted for our WPC joists and Large Plastic Joists, Teak Classic Edge boards, and our 3mm Metal FastClips, meaning the job was professionally finished.
Starting with the raised step section, the client used NeoTimber’s Large Plastic Joist to create a box-framed step. This was then placed in situ with an expansion between it and the brickwork of the house. The client also opted to run the deck boards wood grain face up in an alternating pattern, which really highlighted the deep wood grain effect on our Classic deck boards.
